Benson Group, one of the UK’s leading privately owned printed folding carton manufacturers, is delighted to announce that its Benson Box, Bardon, Leicestershire, operation has been celebrating again as it carried off three prizes at the Best Factory Awards 2012, which celebrate manufacturing excellence in the UK.
The Best Factory Awards, now in their 21st year, are run by Cranfield School of Management in association with the magazine Works Management, and sponsored by Toyota Material Handling UK, IOSH, Schaeffler, Zurich, EAL and Epicor. The 2012 award winners were announced at a ceremony at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, on Friday, September 28th, 2012.
Benson Box General Manager Mike Owens was delighted when the company was announced as the winner of the Skills Development award, and was equally thrilled to be highly commended for the Judges Special Award and in the hotly contested Best Household & General Products category.
“When we consider the competition that was also in the running for these awards, including such well known household names as Siemens and Sony, this demonstrates the very high level at which Benson Box is operating. These accolades have to be seen as a fantastic achievement and I must give tremendous credit to all of the company’s management and employees,” said Mike Owens.
“To be honoured with awards within our own industry sector is always a great pleasure, of course, but to be recognised and seen as best-in-class amongst the whole of the UK manufacturing sector is a wonderful reflection of our people, our systems, and our suppliers.”
Speaking about the success of the event, Awards host Max Gosney, Works Management editor, said: “Our winners showcase the UK’s under celebrated strength in niche manufacturing sectors. From companies making vending machine products to battery separators and gas sensors there are world leaders in our towns and cities that are unknown to the man on the street.
“Our winners excel because they have clear strategies, outstanding processes, and a belief in empowering and inspiring their people to deliver,” he added.
