Morgana Celebrate Significant Success at Ipex 2014

In Finishing on April 4, 2014 at 1:10 pm

Morgana Systems Ltd, Milton Keynes, the UK’s leading manufacturer of equipment for digital finishing, has detailed success on a number of fronts, making Ipex 2014 one of its most successful UK shows of all time.

Ipex2014Stand

The introduction of a number of new models, including the DigiBook 200 perfect binding machine; the AF602 two-station bookletmaker feeder; and two new high-capacity units, the DigiFold Pro 500 and AutoCreaser Pro 500, was certainly one highlight, according to Managing Director Quen Baum.

“We were delighted that our 300 square meter stand was one of the largest at the show, and that we were able to fill it with our largest ever product range, including four significant new product introductions. We were very pleased our order intake value was some 20% more than Ipex 2010, and to see so many of our international dealers at the event, including all of our European representatives and many from the Middle East and Africa.

“We also signed new dealers from South America – those kind of successes are hard to measure in terms of overall contribution to the show, but they are certainly one of the great bonuses of exhibiting at Ipex.”

Commenting on the visitors to the stand, Ray Hillhouse, Sales and Marketing Director at Morgana Systems, said: “We recorded a more-or-less 50/50 split between UK and international orders, and were especially delighted by the interest shown in our latest product introductions. Our PUR binding range attracted significant interest, especially the brand new DigiBook 200 – that was especially pleasing as it was a very late addition to the line-up for the show. The decision to show it was only finalised on the Friday before the event opened! Although overall visitor numbers were down, we got to count this show as being a success for Morgana”

Preview of Next Generation DigiFold and AutoCreaser

In Finishing on March 11, 2014 at 2:31 pm

Morgana Systems has announced that it will preview the next generation DigiFold Pro and AutoCreaser Pro at this months Ipex event in London. The new machines will take centre stage alongside the previously announced System AF2000S booklet making line.

Commenting on the new DigiFold Pro-500, Managing Director Quen Baum said: “The DigiFold has long been the benchmark in the creaser / folder sector. With the improvements in speed and productivity of the latest digital print engines, Morgana needed to provide an additional option for our customers. After surveying our DigiFold users last year, we’ve been able to address what they need as their digital production grows.”

One of the key changes from previous DigiFold models is the introduction of a high-capacity vacuum top-feeder that can take a sheet pile of up to 500mm, as highlighted in the naming convention adopted for the new models. A unique variation designed into the Morgana PosiFeed system transfers the sheets into the creasing and folding section of the machine. Stock of up to 0.4mm can be creased and folded with virtually no cracking of the sheets or the toner on them.

Other new features include dual creasing blades, which can be set for up and down creasing profiles, or for different thickness of crease, and automatic set-up of the folding rollers – these are manually set in current models.

Ray Hillhouse, Sales and Marketing Director, added: “The new Pro-500 model will top the DigiFold range providing a heavy-duty machine for longer run applications of both digitally and litho printed work – it’s exactly what our larger customers have been asking for.”

In addition to the new DigiFold Pro-500, the AutoCreaser Pro-500 will also be shown, similarly benefiting from the new high-capacity feeder. Hillhouse continued: “The AutoCreaser is still our best-selling machine and the new Pro-500 will take us into higher volume applications with a heavier duty machine.”

As well as the new feeder, this version of the AutoCreaser will have a dual creasing blade and matrix, which is particularly useful if producing covers for perfect binding where the spine and hinge creases can be produced in one pass, or for those users who wish to change creasing profiles regularly. The new AutoCreaser Pro-500 can run at up to 8500 sheets per hour.

Morgana: Hefter Systemsform takes On German Distribution

In Digital Presses, Finishing on September 27, 2013 at 8:51 am

Morgana Systems Ltd, Milton Keynes, the UK’s leading manufacturer of equipment for digital finishing, has announced that the distribution of its products in Germany will now be handled by Hefter Systemform following the previously announced financial difficulties at former master distributor for the territory, Ernst Nagal GmbH.

As the new master distributor for Morgana Systems, Hefter Systemform, based in Prien am Chiemsee, Bavaria, offers some 40 years of know-how in the paper processing market. The company is also a distributor for Morgana parent company Plockmatic International. The new partner will continue to honour existing agreements with key regional sub-distributors that currently handle Morgana products in Germany.

Commenting on the appointment, Quen Baum, Managing Director of Morgana Systems, said: “Following the significant changes at Nagal it was important for us to seek a new and effective distribution partner. We are delighted to be able to announce an agreement with Hefter Systemform for the distribution of our Morgana products throughout the important European territory of Germany, and we look forward to a long a successful relationship with the business. We believe that the company will help to significantly expand our market share in the highly advanced and sophisticated German printing market.”

Support and spare parts for existing Morgana finishing equipment in Germany – much of which was re-branded by Nagal – will be transferred to the new master distributor and its partners. “Due to the significant size of Germany it is common for print industry products to be sold and serviced via sub-distributors,” commented Ray Hillhouse, Director of Sales and Marketing at Morgana Systems. “By retaining existing partners our new master distributor will be very well positioned to continue to service current customers as well as expand our presence in Germany.”

The new agreement will be formally announced at the Druck+Form trade fair taking place in Sinsheim, October 9 to 12, 2013, where Hefter Systemform will exhibit a wide range of Morgana Systems equipment (hall 6, stand 6416), including the DocuFold, AutoCreaser 50 and AutoFold, CardXtra and CardXtra Plus multifunction finishing devices, and the very popular DigiFold combined creasing and folding unit (as pictured above).

Commenting on his company’s new agreement with Morgana Systems, Hefter Systemform Sales Manager, Johann Menzinger, said: “We are delighted to be working with this market leading range of post-press equipment targeted at the digital print producer. As in all European markets, digital print production in Germany is growing at an extraordinary pace and many printers are actively searching for suitable finishing devices to help them to keep pace with demand. We believe strongly that Morgana Systems has some excellent products for these print businesses.”
