Xeikon has announced details regarding the purchase of a Xeikon 6000 digital colour press by WK360, Luton, a creative design and print business with a focus on retail and fashion.

An early adopter of the Xeikon technology, WK360 has traded back its 1997 Xeikon DCP/50D digital colour press in order to upgrade its capabilities to one of the very latest models. “Things have come a long way in that time,” confirmed Lawrence Palmer, Managing Director of WK360. “The weights of stock that we can work with, the colour control that we have on the new system, and the vastly superior resolution that is now possible: these all go to make the Xeikon 6000 a most impressive digital printing system.”

With a focus on point-of-sale production, one important aspect of Xeikon equipment has stayed exactly the same. “The ability to produce work up to B2 in size – and virtually any length of print – still sets the Xeikon digital print engine apart from the vast majority of machines on the market. We had the opportunity to review the market again, of course, but could find nothing that could compete with the price / performance package of the Xeikon. The quality of the product produced is now even better: and when you are producing POS product for the retail industry, especially within the fashion sector, you have the most colour conscious customers in the world. They demand only the best,” said Lawrence Palmer.

The print production work handled by WK360 consists of point-of-sale material for large retail chains, including colour critical work for fashion and home furnishing specialists – with runs often running into several hundred copies.

“The work for the fashion industry is very demanding in terms of colour requirements. The capabilities of the Xeikon combined with the latest FA toner really does help us to meet the expectations of such a colour critical market,” confirmed Lawrence Palmer.

Commenting on the latest installation at WK360, a delighted Danny Mertens, Business Development Manager Document Printing at Xeikon, said: “It is very good news for us when an existing customer decides to renew their product with another Xeikon machine. It shows that, after reviewing other products that are available in the market, there is still nothing better than a Xeikon digital colour press to produce the job.

“It is also a great delight to be able to please a market so colour critical as the fashion market. This is the very best of evidence for any other prospective purchaser of digital printing equipment.”
