Eazy Print Adds Litho and CtP to its Line Up

Eazy Print, Eastleigh, Hampshire, has added a Ryobi 524HE four-colour litho press and a DPX System platesetter to its equipment line-up in order to be able to produce longer print runs. The new products were purchased from and installed by Apex Digital Graphics, the official UK distributor of Ryobi printing equipment.

The Ryobi 524HE is a B3 / 52cm landscape format four-colour press. It incorporates semi-automatic plate changing, program inking and many other “big press” features. Based on Ryobi’s “V” shaped five-cylinder design, the press includes off press controls, continuous dampening, a stream feeder, remote ink ducts, and handles paper sizes from 100 x 105mm through to 520 x 375mm in thicknesses up to 0.5mm, all running at printing speeds of up to 11,000 sheets per hour.

Commenting on the purchase, Paul Serellis, Managing Director of Eazy Print, said: “We are now in our fourth year of operation, and moved into our own premises early in 2013. Whilst we have been producing work on a flat-bed UV device and short print runs on a Konica digital unit, it was always in our business plan to add litho printing to get us into producing our own longer runs. With our own litho kit on board we can now keep a much better control of production times and costs and offer better quality print to our customers.”

The company’s business is generated from web sites. “We don’t employ expensive sales people: we prefer to win business through our web sites. We currently have two main sites:

Eazy-Print.com for general print an display work; and RollerBannersUK.com for roller banner work; with a third site just about to launch, UKFlyerPrinting.com, which is geared up to winning work exclusively for the new press,” said Paul.

Commenting on the benefits of using the internet for business, Paul said: “The main plus is that everything we print is already paid for. We have no bad debts. Getting paid up-front also means that we can negotiate really good deals with our paper suppliers. If there is a downside, it is that we have fewer repeat orders going through the business, but I think that will change now that we are getting into larger print runs.”

Fast and effective plate production for the new press is carried out with a DPX System platesetter, which produces high quality printing plates.

M Partners Wide, the South London-based wide format equipment re-seller and distributor, has announced details regarding the recruitment of Bhupinder Bharat to the role of Sales Support Specialist at the company.

Bhupinder – known throughout the industry as Bhups – has a long digital printing pedigree having spent nine years working directly with Xeikon as a support specialist, following similar rolls at MAN Roland and Agfa working with the same equipment. Most recently Bhups has been working with One Vision workflow solutions.

Benson Gateshead to Add Most Expensive Press

Benson Gateshead, the North East flagship site of Benson Group, one of the UK’s leading privately owned printed folding carton manufacturers, has announced details of its largest press investment ever with the purchase of an eight-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 B1 format perfecting press.

The configuration of the machine means that the press can produce medium format sheets at speeds of up to 18,000 per hour in up to eight colours and a coating on one side of the sheet, or up to six colours and coating on one side of the sheet plus two colour printing and coating on the reverse – a reverse printing product offering that the company is marketing under the “Benson Verso” name.

Commenting on this latest addition to the Benson Gateshead press line-up, Andrew Pybus, General Manager of the company’s two North East sites, said: “This is the largest investment that the group has made on a single press, and we are looking forward to its arrival here in the North East in 2014.

“Printed packaging continues to grow in its complexity. Customers seek to gain the maximum marketing potential from their cartons. We need to stay ahead of the game and this press will give us additional capabilities, both in the number of printing units that can be utilised for single sided printing, and in the ability to print on both sides of the sheet in a single pass.”
