Face Creative Services, Islington, a comprehensive London digital print facility, has become the first company to purchase Canon wide format printing product from M Partners Wide, the recently announced Canon reseller.
The well-known Islington based digital print business has added two machines: an imagePROGRAF iPF 9400, which is a 60-inch 12-colour wide format printer, along with the smaller imagePROGRAF iPF 6450 – a 24-inch 12-colour machine. The two products offer both increased speed and quality over previously used equipment – Canon for large format production and Epson for proofing – giving the company a sales edge over much of the competition.
“The print quality produced by these latest Canon devices is second to none,” said Colin Harding, Production Director at Face Creative. “The twelve-colour models appealed to us because we never want to be in a position where we turn away work because the equipment couldn’t handle the files sent in: these printers will handle anything. The tonal gradations are exceptional. Prints from these devices sell themselves!”
“The speed enables the equipment to be used for both the general wide format market and for proofing. The built-in densitometer makes proofing a single process, again offering a speed advantage over our previously used kit,” added Mr Harding.
Digital print equipment in operation at Face Creative includes both Xeikon and HP Indigo products.
The iPF9400 is designed to give the finest results for production, photographic and fine art applications. The printer incorporates LUCIA EX, Canon’s innovative 12-colour pigment inkjet system with image processing technology. It produces a spectrum of accurate colours and expressive black and white reproductions, and it’s extremely cost effective to use. This is achieved by the innovative inclusion of RGB and CMY inks.
A combination of black, matt black, grey and photo grey inks produce incredibly smooth graduations without graininess, resulting in impactful and life like photograph reproduction. Prints produced with the recommended inks are guaranteed to be lightfast for over 100 years.
The iPF6450 is designed for the graphic arts market, with photographic, fine art and proofing applications specifically in mind. This large format printer incorporates LUCIA EX, Canon’s innovative 12-colour pigment inkjet system with image processing technology that delivers a wide colour gamut, smooth graduations, less bronzing and highly scratch-resistant prints.
The iPF6450 is compatible with ICC profile-based colour-management systems and will work seamlessly with third-party RIP applications, supporting production, photography and proofing applications.

Commenting on behalf of M Partners Wide, Gary Doman, Head of Sales for the company, said: “The proofing for print market is huge, and Epson currently has almost complete ownership. These new Canon units are exceptional and will now give printers a choice. With definite advantages in both throughput speed and quality, we believe that Canon now has the edge. Printers seeking a large format proofing solution need to see these machines in action.”
Murray Lock, Joint Managing Director of M Partners Wide, commenting on the company’s first Canon customer, said: “It is always a delight to get the first order signed and delivered.
