M Partners Wide, the South London-based wide format equipment re-seller and distributor, has confirmed that it will give a UK show debut to Canon’s new imagePrograf iPF6400SE wide format printer when it exhibits within the World of Wide Format zone at this months Ipex exhibition.
The equipment supplier is to occupy a 48-square-metre stand within the World of Wide Format zone at the show, taking place from March 24 to 29, 2014, at ExCel, London. The Canon imagePrograf iPF6400SE six-colour printer was officially released in February of this year, and two units of this entry-level printer will feature amongst other Canon devices on the M Partners Wide stand.
This six-colour machine is a 24-inch wide (609.6mm) device that, according to Canon, would be suited to commercial and High Street printers looking to take their first steps into wide-format. The 6400SE was released alongside the 44-inch wide iPF8400SE.
The two printers sit between the five-colour CAD models and the high-end eight- and 12-colour photo and production machines in the Canon portfolio. These entry-level models run Canon’s own six-colour Lucia-EX pigment-based ink-set. This consists of CMYK, matt black and red.
The supplier says that the new inks have been created with lower ink consumption in mind, along with significantly wider substrate compatibility, and a durable image life. Both models feature optional larger ink tanks for uninterrupted running, 300ml and 700ml respectively compared to the standard 130ml on the iPF6400SE and 330ml for the 8400SE. The tanks can also be changed on-the-fly thanks to a sub-ink tank.
For printers in a hurry the 2,400 x 1,200dpi iPF6400SE can run an A1 poster on coated paper in 60 seconds in “Fast Economy” mode or 105 seconds in “Standard” mode. The iPF6400SE offers a compact footprint, being 20% smaller than the previous iPF6400S model.
Commenting on the debut of this printer at the show, Murray Lock, Joint Managing Director of M Partners Wide, said: “Having seen this model in action, we are already expecting a lot of interest in it. Wide format printers just seem to continually improve, and the quality that can be produced on this device, considering the “entry-level” tag that Canon has given it, is amazing. Printers looking to invest in large format for quality proofing, whilst also expanding their market with large format point-of-sale production, simply cannot go wrong with a first-time investment in the 6400SE.”
