The Reprographics Team at Gosport Borough Council has updated and expanded its finishing capabilities with an investment in a suite of new post-press products from Morgana Systems Ltd, the Milton Keynes, UK, based finishing equipment manufacturer.

This latest investment, much of which is replacing products up to 15-years-old, has included the purchase of a System 2000S bookletmaker, a DocuFold Pro, and AutoCreaser Pro 33, and a MultiNak S twin-headed stapler.

“These latest purchases will help our team be even more productive,” said Graeme Jesty, Reprographics Team Leader at Gosport Borough Council. The System 2000S bookletmaker offers significant advantages over our previous kit, and will help us to take days off the production time of our quarterly newsletter – a publication distributed to all residents in the Borough. It will allow us to finish the product some three times quicker, as well as meaning that we can be significantly more efficient on other work.”

The System 2000S is capable of producing booklets of up to 120 pages. It can be equipped with a hybrid feeder capable of feeding pre-collated sets from Gosport’s digital print engine or collating litho printed sections as produced on its Presstek 34DI four-colour printing solution. The System 2000S can even combine both types of print into a finished book product. The heavy-duty bookletmaking section comes complete with ISP or Honner wire stitching heads, fore-edge trimmer, and the Morgana Squarefold 2000, to give a professional perfect bound effect to the finished product.

Reprographics at Gosport Borough Council is also producing work for a number of neighbouring Local Authorities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. “We don’t outsource work – we aim to produce all of the Councils print needs in-house. Our efficient production methods have attracted work from other Local Authorities, enabling us to be even more cost effective, and also allowing us to invest in more efficient equipment,” commented Graeme Jesty.

With regard to the decision to purchase from Morgana Systems, Graeme added: “We have, of course, used and viewed other products, but Morgana machinery fits the bill for us. It is compact – space for in-plant print shops is always an issue – and it provides both speed and reliability. When service is needed, the response is always excellent, as you would expect from a brand leader.”

The recently enhanced DocuFold Pro and AutoCreaser Pro products have also impressed. “The touch-screen technology incorporated into the Morgana range makes operating the systems really easy and straightforward. They are fast to set-up and perform swiftly once up and running: you can’t ask for more than that,” added Graeme Jesty.

DocuFold Pro

Morgana’s DocuFold Pro is a fully automatic paper-folding machine, ideal for folding litho or digital stock. Equipped with the latest SmartScreen technology, it enables an operator with minimum training to carry out a variety of folds from an icon-driven touch-screen. An unlimited alpha-numeric memory is available to store all standard and non standard jobs.

Enter the sheet size and fold type on the DocuFold Pro SmartScreen and the machine automatically adjusts the fold plates and delivery rollers electronically.

AutoCreaser Pro 33

This market leading creasing product features the intuitive 7-inch SmartScreen that controls all the main functions of the AutoCreaser Pro 33. Using the screen is simplicity itself. Key in the sheet length (popular sizes are pre-set), touch the fold type for the finished product (letter, gate etc), and press the green button. AutoCreaser Pro 33 automatically calculates where the creases need to be and sets them accordingly – minor tweaks to crease position can be made by touching an arrow on the screen. The productivity of the AutoCreaser Pro 33 has been improved to produce up to 8,500 A4 sheets per hour, or an astonishing 11,000 A5 sheets per hour.
