Your Print Solution invests in Morgana PUR Binding

Digital print business Your Print Solution, High Wycombe, has announced the installation of a DigiBook 200 PUR binder from Morgana Systems Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of equipment for digital finishing.

The unit represents the first venture into PUR binding for the company. The Morgana DigiBook 200 is the perfect match for the short to medium production runs undertaken at the High Wycombe digital print company.

Commenting on the purchase decision, Steven Brown, Managing Director of Your Print Solution (pictured above), said: “We had looked at hot melt binding as a solution, but the latest range of Morgana’s PUR machines really impressed us with the quality of bind produced and the range of materials that it could handle.

“We had been using a short-run fast bind solution previously, working with EVA glue, but we were finding this unsuitable for larger publications and certainly troublesome for digitally produced pages on certain stocks. PUR seems to be able to cope with just about anything we need to bind, delivering a solid, reliable finished publication.”

Typical binding work at the company can be anything from runs of one through to 200 copies or more. The DigiBook 200 handles spine lengths from 110mm to 320 mm and a maximum thickness of 50mm.

“During this first few weeks of operation with the DigiBook 200 our team has been able to test out the product on a wide variety of work, including a run of brochures consisting of 300 copies. Production has been fast and the strength of bind is fantastic.

“This new machine will help us move into the short-run digital photobook market, where the business-to-business sector will be in sharp focus for us. We are also intending to expand our trade binding services as there are currently no other short-run PUR capabilities in this area,” added Steven Brown.

In addition to producing digital print via its Indigo 7000, the company also produces a comprehensive range of wide format work via the latest HP Designjet L26500. The near-ten-year-old business employs a team of 17 at its West Wycombe Road premises. The PUR binder joins a Morgana DigiFold machine and a host of other finishing solutions including bookletmaking, folding, case-bound book production, and wire-o-binding.

Web-to-print is an important focus for the company. Its largely bespoke system manages the print requirements of a number of major customers, including Wimpy, Twentieth Century Fox, and YMCA. Taking the work it produces for Wimpy as an example of the power the system brings to job preparation, Steven Brown explains: “We produce four different menus per restaurant, for 150 locations, but as they are all franchised businesses each has its own pricing: that is quite a challenge, but it’s the sort of thing that our web-to-print system helps us to produce quickly, accurately and effectively.”

Commenting on the installation at Your Print Solution, Ray Hillhouse, Vice President Offline Business at Morgana Systems said: “DigiBook 200 is fast becoming the UK’s short to medium run perfect binder of choice, and Your Print Solution has the perfect mix of work for the machine. It will be the ideal finishing solution to help them into the photobook market.

“As many companies have recognised, hot melt binding is not the ideal system when dealing with short-run digitally printed output. The unique range of DigiBook PUR products from Morgana offer the ideal solution for printers that need to produce quality binding for digitally printed publications.”

Iain Moxon Promoted to European Technical Role

MPL, a division of Surrey-based M Partners Limited, has announced that Mitsubishi press technical expert Iain Moxon (pictured above, left, on install duty in Saudi recently) has now taken on the role of European Technical Service Manager within the organisation. M Partners Limited is the UK distributor for Ryobi MHI B1 sheet-fed offset litho presses, while MPL manages European distributors of the products along with the recently announced UK-based European parts centre for Mitsubishi / Ryobi MHI sheet-fed equipment.

As European Technical Service Manager Iain will supervise the installation of Ryobi MHI presses across Europe, with his role extending into Middle East and African countries when required, along with the technical training of all dealers. He brings with him some 20-years of technical experience of working with Mitsubishi presses.

Commenting on his new role within the organisation, Iain Moxon said: “It is a great pleasure to be able to work with MPL and Mitsubishi presses throughput Europe. They are well designed and expertly built machines – it is great to see the reaction of printers throughout the continent to the excellence provided by Ryobi MHI products.

“Personally, having worked with this equipment for over 20 years, I am delighted that, thanks to the marketing focus of MPL, word is now getting around the printing industry about how wonderfully reliable and capable these machines are: it’s been like working with the best kept secret in the industry for far too long.”

Speaking on behalf of MPL, Mark Stribley, Joint Managing Director, said: “Iain’s technical knowledge and expertise with regard to Mitsubishi B1 presses is second to none. As we grow the market for these products in both UK and Europe his technical know-how will be invaluable. Although initially managing machine installations, Iain will also be furthering the training of local engineers who will take on the responsibility for regular maintenance of the presses.”

Iain has been involved in installations of Ryobi MHI B1 presses in both Saudi Arabia and, most recently, in Belgium, where a V3000 TP-8 colour 4/4 B1 machine has been installed at a printers close to Antwerp.

About M Partners

In 2010 M Partners took on the management of both sales and service for Mitsubishi Litho Presses in the UK and Ireland. This relationship has since grown to encompass responsibility for technical service across the whole of Europe for the now re-named Ryobi Mitsubishi business. M Partners also manage spare parts storage and distribution for Mitsubishi branded machines across Europe.

This representation joins established products such as GUK folding and inserting equipment, primarily focused towards the pharmaceutical packaging sector. More recently the business has expanded into the digital market place following an announcement regarding exclusive distribution of large format printing equipment from Korean manufacturer DGI, and an agreement to re-sell Canon equipment, with a special focus on the unique proofing capabilities of those products.

M Partners offers manufacturers considerable marketing and business expertise across both the printing and packaging sectors and provides high-quality national coverage for sales, support and technical service.

The Joint Managing Directors established M Partners Ltd in 2006 after gaining many years of industry experience in senior management roles at a major press manufacturer and used equipment dealer. They were responsible for corporate and product marketing for pre-press, press, post-press and service, plus operational control for digital, consumables and used equipment divisions.
