Morgana Systems, the UK’s leading manufacturer of equipment for digital finishing, has announced the release of the Morgana Laminator 450 and Pro 450 models. The product was previewed late last year at both The Print Show and at Ipex and received an enthusiastic reception.

This new high-performance compact machine combines speed, ease of operation and quality, making it the ideal solution for the in-house commercial laminating requirements of many print businesses. Two versions are available, with the Pro 450 featuring a high pile automatic feeder.

Commenting on the new unit, Ray Hillhouse, vice-president offline business at Morgana, said: “Lamination continues to grow in popularity. It protects the printed page, making it more durable, whilst also enhancing the appearance of books, boxes, and business cards. Many printers outsource the task to trade finishing houses, but this adds days onto the production schedule, as well as additional cost to the job. A compact, quality solution is being called for by a great many printers that we see.

“Designed for easy operation, the Laminator Pro 450 has a unique “heavy duty” high pile automatic feeder for true load-and-go operation. It features an integrated compressor and pneumatic system for high quality print lamination, on litho and digitally printed work measuring up to 450mm x 700mm. It is the ideal laminator for small to medium sized digital and offset print operations.

“For those handling shorter run lengths, the Laminator 450 entry-level version offers semi-automatic operation, a manual feed, with an option to add the deep pile stacker at a later date.”

Measuring just 1,700mm x 730mm the compact, single-phase Laminator Pro 450 has been designed to be both efficient and cost-effective, helping print producers to offer an all-in-one service to customers. Printers will be able to avoid the costly set-up charges and mark-ups that go with outsourcing lamination work to a trade finisher. With its fast production speed and simple to use set-up, the Laminator Pro 450 is the perfect investment for “on demand” print shops.

Utilising its deep pile automatic suction feed system, the Laminator Pro can achieve production speeds of up to 1,875 landscape SRA3 sheets per hour, allowing printers to undertake jobs requiring higher quantities and faster turnaround times with minimal set-up, wastage and supervision.
